The last time I tried Jami (then Ring) was 2 years ago and it didn't really work. Now people are saying that it works.

Does the app use a lot of data when it's running in the background?

I want to get some basic idea of how its P2P protocol works before recommending it to anyone.

@njoseph I tested it a long time ago, but looks like every peer also routes messages for others. At least I could notice substantial amount of traffic that was not connected or related to my minimal usage.

Maybe that changed! Just look out for the "trap" of loosing mobile traffic volume over night…
