my pinebook pro is tiny and hacky and trying so hard and i love it.

Mobile devices are what happened when the 'computer should be a sealed box appliance that protects the users from themselves' philosophy finally triumphed over 'the computer should be a wide-open playground for experimenters'.

I wonder if this trend can ever unhappen, now that it has begun.

Srsly tho I think we're at the front edge of a massive trend of self managed workplaces BUT if it is not accompanied by self ownership, it'll only be a temporary disruption to business as usual.

anybody know about/recommend Flock Agent, a "privacy-preserving fleet management system" from First Look Media?

Ok I'm pretty happy with this revision of the MediaWiki TimedMediaHandler video player dialog.

Check it out in action!

Still some stuff todo, but it's a big step-up for the "beta mode" video player. Once it gets through review this'll land on Wikipedia, probably in a week or two. Next stab on it I'll make some improvements on audio handling and supporting embed/sharing.

Just cancelled my Spotify premium subscription. Two days ago I deployed a @funkwhale instance and I couldn't be happier. It works amazingly well, and in combination with DSub on the phone I've got all my music needs covered.

First thing I did when I had it working, I bought some of the albums that I was listening to from their artists so I could add them to my collection. I have the feeling that money will reach the creators better this way than through my old subscription.

Maybe once Elon Musk's Neuralink goes mainstream, advertisements as we know them will not be necessary anymore.

You suddenly have a memory that you wanted to buy a Tesla car for a long time.
You go on the road and every car looks like a Tesla.
The Ts you see start appearing in the font of Tesla's logo.
You wave at a "confirm purchase" view when saying bye to grandma.
You've always driven Tesla cars for as long as you can remember and are loyal to the brand.
