More photos of #PrivacyYathra. Though we did not get enough time to discuss #privacy in detail. I just reminded them how #Facebook manipulates what we get to see, how we cannot verify if #WhatsApp is really end to end encrypted, how our personal information are stored forever by these companies without us having any control.
When I asked people to raise their hands if they don't use #Facebook, there were many hands, when I asked for people not using #Facebook nor #Instagram the number reduced, when I added not #WhatsApp, there was just one hand. I'm happy there was at least one person. Abhinav, their FOSS Cell coordinator was that person.
@praveen may be a demo after talks of fsf alternatives will push more people towards adoption.
Hopefully next time we get more time to show a demo.
@praveen don't people reach out to you post session?
Generally they are reluctant but we have good contacts with some of them.
Did you try pattle.im? Its still not feature complete as riot, but has a simple design.
Nope I have not used it, first I hear about it. But I went to the GitHub site and saw 3 screenshot of it. Bit looks decent enough to give it a try. 🤔😁✌️
I don't think there is a problem with #riot per se. It is not intuitive or as easy to use and or smooth as competitive apps that is all. I don't have a #FaceBook or #Instagram acc, but I have seen other people using them. the smoothness on scrolling those apps are second to none. The layouts and the eye candy are so impresive. we might have freedom of software but they have the eye candy and the smothness of app. That is all. we can get there, eventually.
